1. GomdoLight Overview

 

Greetings,
Introducing GomdoLight, system enhancement firmware pack for KOREAN LG Optimus devices.

 

GomdoLight modifies official stock firmware to remove all the unnecessary components preloaded by operator/manufacturer, and reorganizes key system parts to be 'basic' Android OS with manufacturer's flavor. This will somewhat improve battery life, system stability, and responsibility. But most of all, you will find your phone more comfortable to use.

 

WARNING! INSTALLING GOMDOLIGHT OR APPLYING THE GOMDOLIGHT CWM INJECTION TOOL WILL MODIFY THE SYSTEM PARTITION. ONCE THE SYSTEM PARTITION IS MODIFIED, (STRICTLY SPEAKING) IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.

 

Installing GomdoLight will NOT delete your user data, or perform an unwanted factory reset. However in the event of failure there is a small possibility of data loss.

As stated above, you do NOT have to factory reset your device to use GomdoLight. However performing a factory reset after first installing GomdoLight will clear all 'dirty' data from your device, and may improve performance.

 

 

2. Changes Applied to Your Device

 

Here you can find what components are added, modified, or removed when you install GomdoLight.

 

2.1. Components Added

Below is the list of all the components that may be added when you install GomdoLight. Please note it will slightly vary according to your device model (for example F180 devices do not have 'UMS for F160' app, since they have no microSD slot).

 

2.1.1. Application Manager (AppBox) Components

• Adobe Flash Player: Flash Plugin
• IM+: A multiprotocol messenger app that supports Facebook, Google Talk, Skype, MSN
• LaunchKey: An app to improve Search key function (available if you enable the navigation bar)
• MobiCalc Free: A very powerful calculator app
• Titanium Backup: A backup solution, needless to say
• UMS for LGF160: This app allows you to mount the external SD card as USB Mass Storage. Works with other models, not only F160.
• X-plore: A very powerful file manager tool that support root

2.2. Components Removed

The following components will be REMOVED from system partition. However most of these components can be easily reinstalled via Play Store or operators' (SK Telecom, KT, LG U+) own app stores.

2.3.1. Non-customizable Modifications

Navigation bar buttons: Phone, Multitask, Search, End (instead of typical Back/Multitask/Home/Menu)

Sounds played when using NFC: changed to simple short beeps, less embarrassing in certain public places that require silence.

USB debugging (ADB) icon is always hidden

Camera APK is replaced so that you can turn off shutter sound

 

2.3.2. Customizable Modifications

Navigation bar on/off

Emoji (color graphic emoticons) on/off

Backlight brightness control for front touch buttons

Resized LG Keyboard (available on LTE2, VU2, LTE3, G)

Boot/shutdown animations (can be deleted)

Status bar (no operator string, no unnecessary icons in multitask screen, battery percentage indicator)

 

2.4. Applications That Can Be Disabled, But NOT Removed

GomdoLight provides several options to disable some system applications while not actually removing them. Since they are not removed, but just deactivated, they can be revived at any time you want.

GomdoLight provides some unique features that maximizes comfort, usability, and availability even when undesirable situation arises.

3. Recommended Users

 

GomdoLight takes out many features from the stock firmware. Therefore it is generally not advisable for Android first-timers.

 

Recommended for the following users that:

•  ...want their phone to be clutter-free
•  ...want to expand the devices' capabilities
•  ...seeks certain level of balance between stability, comfort, and performance
•  ...have a strong will to try to solve the problem when one arises
•  ...try to post questions as detailed as they can

But NOT recommended for the following users, that:

•  ...don't know what features their phone have
•  ...are new to Android OS, and know almost nothing about it
•  ...prefer to have many features loaded as possible
•  ...refuses to read documents, even if they are necessary to install and use the ROM
•  ...do not understand the installation process always involves some degree of risk
•  ...ask first when a problem arises, without searching
•  ...ask other person to install the ROM for them, without studing and trying
•  ...do not like me (Celes/Gomdolius), the ROM developer

 

 

4. How to Install

 

This section explains how to perform a fresh installation of GomdoLight over properly-working, latest stock system. If you're installing GomdoLight for the first time, or reinstalling GomdoLight after you updated/reflashed the base stock firmware, this is the place you're looking for.

The installation process of GomdoLight, can be largely categorized in the following three steps.

• Flashing the latest, official stock firmware
• Installing the CWM Recovery
• Installing GomdoLight custom firmware

That said, you first install the CWM Recovery on a 'properly-working' system. Unlike other ROMs, GomdoLight does NOT format your system and flash everything over. Instead, GomdoLight replaces, modifies, and removes the contents of official stock firmware. Therefore you MUST have a properly-functioning stock ROM installed, and should NEVER, EVER wipe your system partition before installing GomdoLight.

When you load the GomdoLight installation ZIP package file from the CWM Recovery, a step-by-step installation wizard will appear, and you will be able to tell the wizard what you want, and literally 'shape' GomdoLight as you like.

In this installation guide, you will see some green texts like this, which explains terms or various background information that is not part of installation process, but is required.

The flowchart below describes whole installation process. Since it is designed to provide solutions to almost every possible situation, you might feel very confused at first sight. However it is not complicated at all; carefully follow the steps, and you will be able to install GomdoLight without any problem (I hope). Several key parts in the flowchart are linked to the corresponding sections in this document. First try to outline an installation plan according to the flowchart, and make use of image map hyperlinks to check the details. (Links may not work if you're on a mobile device)

 

 

 

 

4.1. What You Will Need

You need these, to install GomdoLight:

• LG Optimus LTE2, VU2, LTE3, G, G Pro, GK
• A Microsoft Windows-based PC (XP, Vista, 7, 8)
• Administrator account for your PC (you probably have it on a personal computer)

This installation guide provides help with the following prerequisites:

• installing all the required drivers
• installing the latest, official stock firmware on your device
• installing the CWM Recovery on your device

4.2. Back Up Your Data!

Copy the entire contents of internal storage to external SD card, PC, or a cloud storage. However the ROM is well-tested, there is always some risk of failure.

Especially LG Optimus devices, by their design, forcefully formats the entire storage when performing a factory reset. It is VERY DIFFICULT and PAINFUL to recover deleted files from the internal storage, since it is always MTP-mounted, never revealing itself as a block device to your PC. I SAY AGAIN, BACK UP YOUR FILES BEFORE INSTALLING.

When backup is complete, you can start installing GomdoLight.

4.3. If You Do Not Have the Latest Official Stock Firmware Installed

If you have the latest stock firmware installed, skip to the subsection 4.4.

Stock firmware versions that are compatible with GomdoLight (by device model):

ONLY the stock firmware versions described above are compatible with the current version of GomdoLight.

If you do NOT have the latest official stock firmware (i.e. you have a non-stock custom ROM, like CM10, MIUI, AOKP installed, or your stock ROM is outdated) you have to install the latest stock firmware with LGMobile Support Tool, or KDZ Flasher.

- Stock ROM/firmware means the full, UNMODIFIED (nothing deleted, added, or changed), OFFICIAL FIRMWARE the manufacturer (LG) built for your device.

- KDZ means a full system image for LG phones. KDZ files are downloaded directly from LG, and they contain all the information required to flash the stock firmware. Flashing a KDZ image does NOT delete your user data, but does overwrite the system partition to 100% stock.

4.3.1. Installing Drivers

To flash the stock firmware your PC must recognize your phone as a known device. Device drivers tell your PC the information required to recognize your device. In other words, if you don't have the required drivers installed, your phone will be seen as an 'unknown device' to your PC, and you will not be flash the stock firmware. If you plan to use 'KDZ Flasher', you will need MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 3 as well.

4.3.2. Installing Runtimes

If you plan to user the LGMobile Support Tool, then you do not need to do this.

MSXML 4.0 SP3 can be obtained at the following URI:

If you're on Windows XP, you will need to install .NET Framework 3.5 as well. This can be obtained at the following URI:

* Consider upgrading your Windows if you're on Windows XP. After April 8, 2014, there will be no new security updates, non-security hotfixes, free or paid assisted support options or online technical content updates for Windows XP.

4.3.3. Automatically Flashing the Latest Stock Firmware via the LGMobile Support Tool

The LGMobile Support Tool is the official flash tool from LG. Use this tool to automatically download and install the latest official stock firmware. Also this tool can be used to revert your device to stock. Download the tool from the following URI:

When finished, run the downloaded file and wait until the LGMobile Support Tool is fully loaded. Connect your device to PC with a USB cable, and find 'Options' menu near the upper-right corner of the window. Select 'Upgrade Recovery' from the Options menu.

Select 'LG Softwares' as USB connection type on your device. You do NOT have to be in 'DOWNLOAD MODE' to use this tool. Also your device's battery should be charged over 50% to initiate the flash process. If not, charge the battery first.

I recommend using the LGMobile Support Tool over the KDZ Flasher. This tool is LG official; users are recommended by LG to use it, and you should be still under a valid warranty if this tool fails and your device is damaged. If you're unable to use this tool, try the LG PC Suite, yet another official tool by LG.

If you successfully flashed the latest official stock firmware with this LGMobile Support Tool, you should skip the rest (manually downloading a KDZ file, and using the KDZ Flasher), and install the CWM Recovery on your device.

4.3.4. Manual Downloading of the KDZ Flasher and the Stock KDZ File

Download the KDZ Flasher and the KDZ file for your device.

(1) Go back to step 4.3. From the firmware compatibility table, find your model. Then, find the version number on the right and click on it.

The KDZ file will start downloading automatically.

If you can't download the KDZ file, let me know; drop me an email to gomdolight at(@) gomdoli dot(.) us and tell me there is a change in download location (URI).

(2) Remember the location of the downloaded KDZ file.

You will have to manually locate this file for the KDZ Flasher.

Also, please be advised that the KDZ Flasher may delete the KDZ File used upon a successful flash. Make a backup copy of the KDZ file now. You might need it later again.

(3) Go to 'GomdoLight Tools' section, and find the KDZ Flasher in the 'GomdoLight Miscellaneous Tools' category.

Remember the location of the downloaded KDZ Flasher. You should run this file in the next step, and it's not a good idea to lose track of your downloaded files.

4.3.5. Using the KDZ Flasher to Manually Flash the Stock Firmware

Now you are ready to actually flash the KDZ file you downloaded onto your device.

If you're on Windows Vista, 7, or 8, and have used the KDZ Flasher before, open a new instance of Windows Explorer, type %programdata% in the address bar, and delete LGMOBILEAX folder if exists.

(1) First completely turn off your device, then disconnect (unplug) from PC if connected.

(2) Press and hold Volume UP+DOWN at the same time, and connect your device to PC. 'DOWNLOAD MODE' will appear on the screen.

(3) Follow the instructions at the following URI: http://cafe.naver.com/gomdolight/3210.

If your device falls into bootloop after flashing the stock firmware, boot into recovery mode and use adb to issue 'adb reboot recovery' command, to factory reset the device. This will solve most problems.

Now, you have the latest official stock firmware, but still do not have the CWM Recovery installed. This guide will now explain what you should do to install it in the next subsection.

4.4. Installing the CWM Recovery

If you have the latest stock firmware installed, now is the time to install the CWM Recovery.

If your PC is available, go to paragraph 4.4.1 (STRONGLY RECOMMENDED). If your PC is not available and you're rooted, go to paragraph 4.4.2. If your PC is not available, and you're not rooted either, sorry, you can't install GomdoLight at this time. Please postpone the installation process.

If you already have the CWM Recovery installed, jump to subsection 4.5.

This guide does not explain how to unlock the bootloader, or what to do if your bootloader is unlocked. This guide assumes that if you're skilled enough to unlock your bootloader you will have a deep understanding in Android OS, and therefore you're able to accurately reinterpret this guide according to your situation. Please note that most users are NOT REQUIRED to unlock their bootloader to install GomdoLight. Bootloader unlocking process is dangerous, and involves a considerable amount of risk that your device is damaged beyond repair. If you do not understand what this warning means, just ignore this, and stick to this guide.

- CWM Recovery is a program that allows you to modify your device's file system with the highest privilege available (this is called root privilege) at the pre-boot stage. There are other custom recovery programs that are similar to the CWM Recovery with different names and different flavors, but their core functions are same. They are called the CWM Recovery in this guide, for your easier understanding. You're required to install the CWM Recovery prior to installing GomdoLight.

- Rooting your device means creating an environment that you can obtain the highest privilege with full access to your device's file system at any time. If you root your device you can perform various tasks that are never available to you in non-root configuration, however you are also advised that misuse of the root privilege can critically damage your device beyond repair. Moreover, by rooting your device some applications can be rendered incompatible with your device.

4.4.1. If Your PC Is Available

Use GomdoLight CWM Injection Tool to install the CWM Recovery easily.

Find the 'GomdoLight CWM Injection Tool' under the 'GomdoLight Tools' section to download it and install the CWM Recovery onto your device.

* GomdoLight has a function called 'EasyMod', which can alter system contents without rooting your device. Because you will (without rooting) gain the root privilege in the CWM Recovery environment, and also can alter system as you want via EasyMod, you do not have to root your device if you do not want root. Even if you do not root your device all the GomdoLight's functions will work, and, you will be able to root the device anytime you want without any third party rooting solution.

* GomdoLight CWM Injection Tool should be executed only on PC. If you are not on PC, and don't have your device rooted, then you cannot install GomdoLight at this time since there is no way to install the CWM Recovery without PC or root.

Skip to subsection 4.5 when you're all done.

4.4.2. If Your PC Is NOT Available, but You Have Already Rooted Your Device

If you CAN'T use your PC, but have rooted your device via some other solutions, you can install the CWM Recovery with the CWM Recovery Standalone Installer. Find the CWM Recovery Standalone Installer from the 'GomdoLight Misc Tools' under the 'GomdoLight Tools' section.

If CWM Recovery Standalone Installer APK is completely installed, run it, and press '2nd-init Recovery' to install the CWM Recovery. (You have to allow root)

* This method should be used only when you're not able to use your PC. If your PC is available, use GomdoLight CWM Injection Tool regardless of whether you're rooted or not.

4.5. Copying the GomdoLight Installer to Your Device

Now connect your device to PC, and copy the GomdoLight installer (zip file) to the device's internal or external storage. GomdoLight Installer file can be found at '10. GomdoLight Downloads / Revision History' section. Do NOT extract the zip file; just copy the zip file itself to your device's storage.

When the file is completely copied to the device, you have to perform an integrity check on the file to ensure that it is not corrupt or damaged. If the file is corrupt or damaged, installing GomdoLight with such file can lead to installation failure or serious malfunction. Most file explorer applications can calculate the MD5 hash value of a file. Calculate the MD5 hash of the GomdoLight Installer file ON YOUR DEVICE, with the MD5 hash value information provided on the download page, and proceed ONLY IF they match each other.

If the file is confirmed perfect on your device, now you can safely disconnect the device from your PC (optional), and boot into the CWM Recovery.

4.6. Booting into the CWM Recovery Mode

If your data on the user storage are all backed up, and the GomdoLight Installer file is prepared on the device, now you should reboot into the CWM Recovery. Restart the device, and:

• Optimus LTE2, VU2, LTE3:
  Press the HOME button, when the LG logo shines and the device vibrates.
• Optimus G:
  Press the POWER button, when the LG logo shines and front touch buttons are lit.
• Optimus G Pro, GK:
  Press the HOME button, at the moment the LG logo is displayed and front touch buttons are lit.

Then, you will boot into the CWM Recovery. You are advised to remember how to boot into the CWM Recovery, because you will need it at a later time, to backup/restore your system and data, upgrade/reconfigure/troubleshoot GomdoLight.

- CONTROLS are as follows, when in the CWM Recovery environment.

VOLUME buttons: move up and down

POWER button: select/confirm

BACK button: go back

These applies to everything you do in the CWM Recovery.

4.7. Backing Up Your Entire System (Nandroid)

Even though I already know that you would like to feel the awesomeness of GomdoLight right now, every journey has a beginning. It should always begin with a Nandroid backup. For whatever reason, installation may fail, and Nandroid backup is the most powerful lifesaver when you're in trouble.

- Nandroid is the most complete and powerful backup, which backs up the critical system partitions (boot, recovery, system, data) in complete image files. When you restore your device from a Nandroid backup data, it's a complete restoration; you can't choose individual items to restore, and all of your current applications and settings are replaced with the contents of the Nandroid backup data.

Choose 'backup and restore', and 'backup to external sdcard' (if you have an external SD card, RECOMMENDED), or 'backup' (if you do not have an external SD card) to start the Nandroid backup. It is recommended to place the backup data on the external SD card. However if you do not have one or if your device has no microSD slot, you are STRONGLY ADVISED to reboot, and copy the backup data (/sdcard/clockworkmod) to your PC.

When the backup is complete, now you are ready to run the GomdoLight Installer to start the installation process.

4.8. Installation

From the main menu, select 'install zip from sdcard'. (Note: please be careful not to accidently select 'reboot system now') Select 'choose zip from sdcard', or 'choose zip from external sdcard' according to the GomdoLight Installer's location.

Splash screen will be displayed, and you will be given a chance to select the language you want to use during the installation. Read all instructions very thoroughly, and proceed carefully.

4.9. First Boot and Functionality Check

When the installation process is finished, the device will automatically reboot. However if you quit the installer and manually reboot, you may be asked if you would like to 'Disable recovery flash'; NEVER select this option. If you do, GomdoLight will function improperly. If you accidently selected 'Disable recovery flash', reboot into the CWM Recovery, run the GomdoLight Installer again, and use the Upgrade/Repair option to recover from malfunction.

To confirm that GomdoLight is installed and functioning properly, check the following.

• Settings → About phone → Software information. 'Build number' should contain the GomdoLight version.
• GomdoLightSITREPinitial.txt should be created in /sdcard, after the boot process is complete.

* If you chose to disable 'Google Search', 'Email', or 'Internet', those are left active on the first boot. This is intentional; they remain active on the first boot for better compatibility and error handling. When you restart the device they will be disabled.

* If you perform a factory reset after installing GomdoLight for the first time, the system will be clear of all 'degrading factors', thus maximizing the performance. However it is only recommended, not mandatory.

Now you have successfully installed GomdoLight!

 

Please note: it is completely meaningless to restore all the backup data after performing a factory reset. Minimize the use of Titanium Backup as possible when restoring, and manually reinstall and reconfigure apps and system as much as you can. If you performed a factory reset to maximize performance, stay away from Nandroid or LG Backup unless the backup data is 'clean'.

 

4.10. Reconfiguring GomdoLight

You may no longer like the configurations you set when you installed GomdoLight, or may like to use some newly added optional features after upgrading GomdoLight. GomdoLight Installer has a reconfiguration option for you, and you NEVER have to manually edit the contents of file system. You are advised NOT to alter the contents of the system partition.

To reconfigure GomdoLight, do the following:

(1) Reboot into the CWM Recovery.

(2) Run the GomdoLight Installer just as you did when you installed GomdoLight.

(3) From the main menu, select 'Reconfigure'.

(4) The installer will guide you through the reconfiguration process.

(5) Your device will reboot automatically.

(6) When boot is complete, GomdoLight will automatically reconfigure itself. This may take up to 3 minutes.

 

4.11. Installing 3rd Party Mods

Some advanced users might wish to install 3rd party custom components (like, 'themes') for their devices. GomdoLight has a special mechanism to allow users to easily install 3rd party components. This is called 'EasyMod'.

* EasyMod works regardless of whether you're rooted or not.

For more detailed information on EasyMod, Refer to 'EasyMod Template Download' Page.

* 3rd party mods are NOT part of GomdoLight. The developer of GomdoLight may REFUSE to provide support if you have 3rd party mods installed.

* Some 3rd party mods can disable certain features of GomdoLight.

 

4.12. GomdoLight Emergency Hotfixes

You are advised to regularly check for hotfixes from the Hotfix Center after installing GomdoLight.

Hotfixes are released to address certain problems, or to urgently update some components. Usually installing hotfixes solves problems in GomdoLight, or improves some features.

 

4.13. Uninstalling GomdoLight

If you no longer wish to use GomdoLight for whatever reason, you can easily uninstall GomdoLight. Run the GomdoLight Installer in the CWM Recovery, and select the 'Initialize GomdoLight' option under the 'Troubleshooting' menu. When you're done, flash the latest official stock firmware to completely uninstall GomdoLight.

In other words, initializing GomdoLight configurations and flashing the stock firmware completely uninstalls GomdoLight. For detailed information, refer to 'Automatically Flashing the Latest Stock Firmware via the LGMobile Support Tool'.

 

4.14. Upgrading GomdoLight

Upgrading to the latest version of GomdoLight is easy. Under the GomdoLight download links will be upgrade instructions. Most of the time, you will be able to just upgrade with the Upgrade/Repair option. However there are times you are required to revert to stock firmware and perform a fresh installation.

To upgrade using the 'Upgrade/Repair' option, do the following:

(1) Reboot into the CWM Recovery.

(2) Run the GomdoLight Installer just as you did when you installed GomdoLight.

(3) Select the 'Upgrade/Repair' option from the main menu.

(4) Press 'Install'.

(5) Done.

If you need to newly install GomdoLight over the same base stock firmware (no change in the stock firmware version):

(1) Reboot into the CWM Recovery.

(2) Select 'backup and restore' from the CWM Recovery's main menu.

(3) Select 'advanced restore from external sdcard' or 'advanced restore'.

(4) Carefully select the very Nandroid backup data you created WHEN YOU FIRST INSTALLED GomdoLight.

(5) Restore the system partition ONLY.

(6) Go all the way back to the main menu. Be careful not to select 'reboot system now'.

(7) Now run the GomdoLight Installer, and perform a fresh installation.

When the base stock firmware needs an update, it is just a completely fresh installation from scratch. Make sure required drivers are all installed, and start from 'Automatically Flashing the Latest Stock Firmware via the LGMobile Support Tool'. If an OTA update is still available after flashing the latest stock firmware, refer to the upgrade instructions provided with each release, to find out whether it is recommended to update via OTA. Sometimes OTA updates are optional.

 

 

5. Troubleshooting / Solutions

 

Here you can find how to solve or mitigate problems that you might encounter while using GomdoLight, and some tips to make GomdoLight better serve your needs.

 

5.1. Troubleshooting

If you think your device is not working as expected after installing GomdoLight, follow these steps BEFORE ASKING A QUESTION.

 

5.1.1. Search for Forum Threads and the Solution Center

The 'problem' might be actually an intended behavior, or might be so common that it is already answered. Search the forum thread before asking a question, and it is quite likely that you will find the answer even before asking. Also, the 'Solution Center' has a lot of cases answered already. (Sorry, currently the Solution Center is available only in Korean language - English language support is PLANNED) If your problem is not answered in the forum, or not listed in the Solution Center, proceed to the next step.

 

5.1.2. Restart Your Device

First, restart your device and wait for two or three minutes. This solves most of the problems. If your problem persists, proceed to the next step.

 

5.1.3. Uninstall Third Party Components Affecting System Behavior

There may be some applications that might affect or alter how your device behaves, including, but not limited to, battery savers, task killers, and tweaks. Uninstall these and see if your problem is solved. If your problem persists, proceed to the next step.

 

5.1.4. Repair GomdoLight

Reboot into the CWM Recovery, and reinstall GomdoLight using the 'Upgrade/Repair' option. This will repair core files that might be damaged during the flashing process. If your problem persists, proceed to the next step.

 

5.1.5. Initialize GomdoLight Configurations

Your problem might be in how you configured GomdoLight. Reboot into the CWM Recovery, and run the GomdoLight Installer. From the main menu, select 'Troubleshooting', then 'Initialize GomdoLight'. This will reconfigure GomdoLight to near-stock state. If your problem persists after initializing GomdoLight, proceed to the next step.

 

5.1.6. Clear Damaged or Incompatible Data

Run the GomdoLight Installer again, and select 'Troubleshooting' from the main menu. But this time, select 'Clear Damaged Data', and check the ones that you suspect to be damaged. WARNING: SELECTED DATA WILL BE PERMANENTLY LOST.

 

5.1.7. Perform a Factory Reset

If the problem still persists, create a new Nandroid backup, make sure you have your backup data stored in a safe place, and perform a factory reset.

 

5.1.8. Ask a Question

If nothing works, now it is the time to ask a question. Post a thread, but please be polite, and try to ask as thoroughly as possible. Do not say 'It just does not work', but do say 'I have what device, and what installed, did this and this, and I got this'.

 

5.2. Additional Information, Tips

 

5.2.1. Check for Application Manager, After Installing/Upgrading GomdoLight!

Every GomdoLight release contains up-to-date applications in the Application Manager. There are some applications that you cannot obtain from the Play Store, e.g. Adobe Flash Player. Application Manager allows you to easily install these components, and sometimes can suggest new applications that you may find useful.

 

5.2.2. Want to Unroot?

For whatever reason you may want to unroot your device. You can do this with SuperSU, or, you can also use 'clear.root' flag file to automatically unroot. Unrooting does NOT remove the CWM Recovery.

 

5.2.3. If You Have Unrooted, But Need to Root Again Right Now

GomdoLight can automatically root itself, without any help from root apps or tools.

(1) Create a file names 'enable.root' in /sdcard/GomdoLight.

(2) Reboot your device.

(3) Wait for one or two minutes, and your device will be automatically rooted.

 

5.2.7. Be Careful with Titanium Backup

When your phone is rooted, you will have 'Titanium Backup' in the Application Manager.

Titanium Backup is a very powerful tool that can back up individual apps and their data. However using Titanium Backup to restore system settings can lead to unintended side effects. It is advised that you use Titanium Backup for the user applications only. A factory reset can delete all backup data created with Titanium Backup if they are stored in the internal storage. Configure Titanium Backup to automatically place its backup data in the external SD card, or regularly copy/sync the backup data with cloud services or your PC.

 

 

6. Legal Notice and Your Privacy

 

The developer of GomdoLight shall NOT be held responsible for any injury, loss, expense or damage of any kind whatsoever suffered or incurred by any person who uses GomdoLight.
Installing GomdoLight involves a certain level of risks, and may damage your device beyond repair.
By downloading GomdoLight you automatically agree that you accept the risks explained above and the results even if they are not intended or desired, and indemnifies the developer against any demand, claim or action against the developer relating to or in connection with the user's use or installation of GomdoLight whether directly or indirectly for any reason whatsoever. If you do not agree, do not download GomdoLight or its related components.

 

Every time your device boots, GomdoLight creates log files in /sdcard. GomdoLightSITREPinitial.txt contains the status of your device when GomdoLight is just installed or reconfigured, and GomdoLightSITREPcurrent.txt contains the current status of your device and updated with each boot. The following are stored in these files:

• The date and time log was created (it means the boot time)
• Device model, base firmware version, GomdoLight version
• Android ID (NOT your Google ID or IMEI)
• GomdoLight configurations and logs
• Partitions and storage information (list of partitions and free space)
• List of applications you installed (displayed by package names)
• List of all files stored in /system partition
• The contents of /system/build.prop file

GomdoLight NEVER sends these files without your consent, and is not capable of sending information outside either.

However the developer can politely request the user to send these files to diagnose problems. As you can see, these files does NOT contain information that may affect your privacy, and it is generally safe to send these files. However if you do not want to send the information, you can just deny the request.

 

 

7. Modification, Redistribution, Citation and Reproduction

 

Anyone may use or include GomdoLight, entirely or partially, in their products under the following conditions. In this section the term 'products' includes all types of ROMs, mods and applications. Nothing in this section will apply to any 3rd party components contained in GomdoLight.

 

7.1. Title

The title of your product, CANNOT contain the word 'GomdoLight', or any words that are intentionally composed similarly to it with the purpose to give implication to the general public that the product is released from, or under the supervision of, the original developer of GomdoLight.

 

7.2. Significant Changes Required

The amount of your modifications should reach a significant degree, so that the general public can recognize the differences in its functionality and look-and-feel. That is, your product should significantly differ from GomdoLight, and should be recognized by the general public as a completely different product with minimum level of creativity.

 

7.3. Citation Required

Your product and its download page should contain the title of this ROM (the word 'GomdoLight'), its version number, and the URI of this download page in HUMAN-READABLE FORM. The term 'human-readable form' basically means the plaintext format, readable without any decoding process. The URI of this download page is http://en.gomdolight.lg.gomdoli.us.

Specifically, you are required to include the items explained above, in:

(1) The download page, where your product is available for download.

If, and only if the download page is not available, may you design your product so that above information is displayed to the end user during its installation process.

(2) /system/build.prop file

If, and only if your product does not contain the build.prop file, may you choose another plaintext file that contains the above information. Such file should be placed in the system partition of the target device. In no event shall the system be designed in a manner that automatically alter or remove the information without intervention of the end user.

However, if your work does not have an installer, that is, when redistributing (a) modified component(s) of GomdoLight in a form that require of manual operation of file system of the end user without automated copying of files, paragraph (2) is not necessary.

 

7.4. License of Your Derivative Work

If any component of GomdoLight is used in your product, it should be distributed under the same license (this GomdoLight License). I made GomdoLight free for anyone to use, and you are REQUIRED to do the same. Other people should be able to use your work under these same conditions and limits. However if you do not distribute your work, that is, if you use your work just for yourself, then this subsection does not apply. Additionally, you are STRONGLY WARNED THAT YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO USE GOMDOLIGHT TO GAIN COMMERCIAL PROFITS.

 

7.5. Virality

When a derivate work is used in any manner by a third party for a product distributed to the general public, the product, containing the 'original' derivative work, is regarded as using GomdoLight, and therefore is also bound to the restrictions set in this section.

 

7.6. Mirroring Not Allowed

GomdoLight Installer files and GomdoLight Tools are not to be mirrored without explicit consent from the developer of GomdoLight. In this subsection, the term 'GomdoLight Tools' means all the utilities that contain the word 'GomdoLight' in their respective titles.

 

7.7. Anyone Has the Right to Enforce the Rules in This Section

Anyone found a violation of the rules described in this section, has the right to demand immediate correction to the violator.

11.1. GomdoLight Emergency Hotfixes

GomdoLight Emergency Hotfixes are small update patches that address issues/problems in GomdoLight. Hotfixes are distributed in RAR archive format.
